History: My wife's grandfather, Leo Walton Crawford purchased the farm from his father, Lamah Crawford in 1956. Back then, New Castle was a semi-bustling railroad town and functioned as a stop along the railroad. The town had a population of about 500 people, most of which were farmers who enjoyed a simple yet hard life.
Robert and Angel Senter (Crawford) purchased the farm in 2019 and were presented with beautiful property in serious disrepair. Our first two years were spent cleaning fence rows, overgrown fields, and dilapidated barns, buildings. As we progressed, we were excited to watch the property transform into its current state.
As we revitalize this farm, we've found that many "old ways" have stood the test of time. And so, our gardens are filled with organic produce. Zero herbicides. Our chickens roam about. Our cattle are healthy, happy. Our hay crop is pesticide-free, naturally fertilized. Ecological systems are preserved and the water runs clear. The way it should be.
